What if the solution to tomorrow’s challenges are embedded in yesterday’s stories?

At the Patterson Planning Group, we believe that the key to solving the complex challenges of the future begins with understanding the lived experiences of the past. Working at the intersection of public policy and urban innovation, we help communities uncover the lessons embedded in their histories—moments of resilience, ingenuity, and overlooked insight—to design systems and services that truly serve people where they are. By grounding innovation in context, we strive to improve not only how cities function, but how they feel to the people who call them home.

Who we are

Founded by urban planner and policy strategist Isis Patterson, our firm exists to bridge the critical gap between public institutions, private development, and the lived experiences of residents.

Her work has spanned housing development, economic policy, municipal systems planning, and community engagement—a combination that gives her a practical understanding of how things work at every level. Isis has held strategic roles with institutions like Deloitte, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, where she advised on financial frameworks and equity-based strategies that continue to shape regional development.

With a Master’s in Urban Planning from Harvard University, a degree in Public Policy from Endicott College, and early training in effective communication at Syracuse University, Isis brings both academic insight and hands-on experience to every partnership. But what truly defines her approach is her commitment to listening—to residents, to city leaders, to housing developers, and to grassroots organizations. She believes progress happens when everyone has a seat at the table.

At Patterson Consulting Group, we support housing developers, municipal governments, and mission-driven organizations in planning and implementing solutions that work—for people, for policy, and for the long-term health of communities. Whether it's shaping inclusive zoning policies, guiding multi-stakeholder planning efforts, or designing public-private partnerships for neighborhood revitalization, our work is rooted in practical solutions and collective vision.

We’re here to rethink systems, elevate voices, and drive action. Together, we can make the next step in urban development a golden one—because we’re not just imagining the future; we’re building it, together.
